# Normal Sequence of Operation

Using your LightSpeed Neo requires performing a series of steps in a certain order each time you go to use it. While some steps may be alright if they are swapped, others require being performed in the following order. If you run into any issues starting or stopping the writer, we'd recommend restarting and going through the following steps exactly, in order to minimize any chances for further issues.

### Starting up

1. Check the **MicroSD card** to make sure that it is present and inserted correctly into the slot.
2. **Connect** your LightSpeed Neo to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
3. **Turn on** your writer by briefly pressing the power button. Make sure that the power light turns on.
4. Start the **LightSpeed Neo GUI software**. The software should show a steno keyboard on the screen.
5. Start your **CAT Software** and begin translation or a new job, depending on your software.

### Shutting down

1. **Stop** your CAT software translation. Save your file, if necessary.
2. **Close** the LightSpeed Neo GUI software.
3. **Turn off** your writer by briefly pressing the power button. The power light should go out.
4. **Disconnect** the USB cable from your writer.
